About Our Family

The Stellar Award Winner, 2-Time Grammy® Nominated, 5-Time Dove Awards Nominated gospel group foreverJONES is a family band consisting of 7 biological family members: Dewitt Jones III, Kim Jones, D’Jeniele’ (Jones) Hooten, Dominique’ Jones, Dewitt Jones IV, Judah Jones, and Mya Jones. The Jones family currently resides in Shreveport, Louisiana. They are members and leaders at Shreveport Community Church pastored by Denny and DeAnza Duron

Dewitt and Kim have been married for over 34 years with 5 children and 2 grand-children. At the early years of their marriage, having a large family seemed to be a distant and hopeless dream for the Jones family. Kim was diagnosed with a medical condition that doctors were convinced would prevent her from ever being able to have children. Refusing to take prescribed medication and deal with the illness within the physical realm, Kim drew on her faith in God for 100% healing and restoration in the Spiritual. Inside His perfect will for the entire family, restoration came with a beautiful and ultimate gift that the Jones could never have imagined… their family. Witnessing God’s True and Holy Word birthed a scripture of a living declaration that “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him” (Psalm 127:3).

Both Dewitt and Kim were exposed to music during their upbringing in the state of Washington as they traveled and composed gospel songs together since they were teenagers. Dewitt began his success when world-renowned gospel musician Ron Kenoly recorded his composition of “Use Me” in his 1994 album “God is Able”. His song later became global, most remarkably sung by the Grammy® Award winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.

It wasn’t until Dewitt obeyed a very specific calling from the Lord, that he realized the true calling of the JONES family that would change their life’s purpose forever. Dewitt recalls being given an invitation to “appear” before the Lord every morning at 9 AM. Over 20 years later, the family still has devotions, prayer, and worship every morning. This action has caused foreverJONES to embark on their life-lasting commitment of service and passion for the presence of God.

D’Jeniele’, the oldest sibling, married as D’Jeniele’ Hooten with 2 children of her own, is a songwriter, lead vocalist, and guitarist. You may recall the melodic song “Adoration” on their “Get Ready” project written and lead by D’Jeniele’. Her unmistakable vocal takes you on a ride into the presence of the Divine immediately. She shares that on their sophomore project “Musical Revival ” we all wrote together. “This was so much fun as a family, connecting our hearts and lyrics to reach the masses!” And as you can pick up from the words, her brilliance stands out in the title cut “Musical Revival”. She says, “the idea came to me while I was imagining lyrics actually personified. They would say, ‘My name is lyric and I’ve been here a while’ “. Understanding the power of words, her desire is to encourage musicians and songwriters to write with the knowledge that they have the capacity to change, and heal the world. Spoken
like a true Mother, she is a Nurturer!

Ever since she can recall, Dominique has been surrounded by music. Having developed a love for the piano at a young age, Dominique (nicknamed Doe) spent much of her time watching her uncles and musical family-friend musicians play. While most 12 year olds were being pushed towards sports, Dominique was encouraged by her parents to lead worship at their church. “I remember my parents went out of town, and just before they left they said, ‘Oh yea, and you’re going to lead worship’ and I cried and cried and cried, and begged them to pick someone else. I told them I was too young, and they pretty much turned a deaf ear. However, in hindsight, I can see God’s preparation in every step I was forced to take towards leading worship”. After moving to Shreveport, Dominique became heavily involved in the worship ministry at their church, and soon became the youth worship leader and led for 5 years. In 2010 foreverJONES began their musical journey as signed artists. Even after traveling to multiple cities, and singing on multiple stages across the U.S., Doe has yet to rid herself of pre-show gitters. In a recent interview with journalist KLJ, Doe says, “I kind of feel like the apprehension and nerves are what bring me back to earth before every performance. I realize that I am human and do not want to EVER be on stage without the main attraction, Jesus Christ.”

Dewitt Jones IV was born on August 10, 1992 in Yakima Washington and has been involed in music since he can remember. He is a self-taught musician and plays multiple instruments including the bass guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and drums. DeWitt states that he truly began to love music and songwriting when he moved to Louisiana and started traveling as a bass player in the family. He sings lead vocals and background vocals as well. His heart’s desire is to write and play music that heals the world and sees people’s hearts softened. He is curently enrolled at Bossier Parish Community College to study Business Administration.
Judah is an intregal part of the group as he writes songs and is preparing for what’s next for foreverJONES. He is single and focused on finding God’s direction. He is a ball of energy and loves to make people laugh and have fun.

Judah the drummer, 4th child, and youngest son, is stepping out for the first time vocally on this project. Testing the waters as singer and songwriter, he says “I really enjoyed reaching from the inside just to see what I was capable of as a lyricist. It was so much fun while I was in the studio behind the mic for a change. While I was in my playful moments dropping vocals or just hanging out, I would try different things. Mr. Thomas would keep the record button pushed, and being the producer that he is, he knew that creativity would show up in those moments as well. He is that kind of producer.” Judah is also preparing to attend Kansas State, on a full ride football scholarship in the spring of 2013.

Mya, Dewitt and Kim’s pride and JOY, and the youngest member of foreverJONES, is the sweet and vibrant little 12 year old. She sings background and is currently learning to play the guitar. She also loves softball and presently she plays whatever position her coach needs from left, center, or right field. If you have listened to their first CD ”Get Ready”, she is that youthful lead vocal on the tail end of “Time to Believe”. While attending any of the foreverJONES concerts, you will be uplifted just watching Mya’s excitement and true, pure, love and passion for worship, and enjoyment of the art of singing.
